I have hard rebooted every mini I own several times. None of this was happening before the initial router replacement a few months ago. The speaker or display is plugged in and powered on. You can tell that Google Home, Google Nest Mini , Google Home Mini , Google Home Max, or Google Nest Audio is powered on and in setup mode when the white LED lights are blinking.
Follow these steps to reset the Nest Mini through the Google Home app. Another method to reset the device is through the Google Home app. You can reset the Nest Mini in a couple of ways.
Hard Drive Switch
For a while, that is - after some time (it COULD be an hour but I'm not sure when I started working on it), it stopped working. If Google Home used to connect to Wi-Fi just fine but you recently changed the Wi-Fi password, you’ll need to reconfigure Google Home so you can update the password. To do that, you first need to disconnect its current settings and start fresh. If the problem persists, consider moving Google Home closer to the router. If Google Home isn't the only device experiencing connection issues, the problem may be fixed by moving the router to a more centralized location.
If this doesn’t work, double-check to make sure the Home links to a Google account with its location turned on. Additionally, verify that the Google account is able to answer questions regarding calendars, flights, and other items chosen during the initial setup process. If all you get when you try to factory reset your Google Home speaker is one green and three white lights, there's a good chance the only fix is a replacement. Normally, performing a factory reset is a tried and true way to resolve an issue . But that may not fix your affected Google Home or Mini this time. Try it first, just in case it works, and so you can check it off the list of things you've tried to do to troubleshoot the problem on your own.
I can't find my Google Nest or Home device listed in the Google Home app
This one might be tricky, as you'll have to use one hand to press the factory reset button on the base of the speaker while you take the photo with the other hand. If you have a Google Home, press and hold the microphone mute on the back of the speaker for about 15 seconds to reset. If successful, your device will confirm it's resetting. In the newer Nest Mini devices, first, you will have to turn ON the Mute switch.
Don’t hate me for stating the obvious, but check the plug. On more than one occasion, someone in our family has pulled the plug on a Google Nest device to charge a phone or plug something else in. If the plug is indeed in the wall, check the connection where the cord meets the device, as that may have come loose.
Restart the Router & Google Home
Google is aware of this issue and is currently working on a fix. If you want the phone to respond instead, the best option is to walk out of the Google Home's listening range. There’s an on/off switch on the back of the speaker that controls whether the microphone is enabled or disabled.
Reconnect the power cable back into your speaker or display. The first-gen Home Mini does have a dedicated Reset button next to the power port. The Google Nest Mini does support a 5 GHz connection. Hence, try switching the network as a possible fix to the issue. In the 2.4 GHz network band, as the number of devices connected to the network increases, so does the latency of the network. Increased latency leads to lower speeds and higher buffering time.

If Google says ‘Could not communicate with your Google Home Mini,’ update the Google Home app, check your Wi-Fi, turn on Bluetooth, and check your device’s minimum requirements. Move your Google Home Mini closer to your router and move other wireless devices away from your Google Home Mini.
All you need to do is open up the Google Home app. In this menu, you will notice that there are options that will allow you to adjust the sensitivity of the device’s hearing. Pull the plug from the wall and wait 30 seconds, then plug it back in. Sometimes residual power can exist inside the device that keeps it from fully shutting off and this unplug/replug sequence isn’t as effective, so yeah, please wait.
You should see a yellow or orange light if it's turned off. The device will turn off for a short time and then it will turn back on. This can help in minor system issues such as the device not responding to any command .
