This one might be tricky, as you'll have to use one hand to press the factory reset button on the base of the speaker while you take the photo with the other hand. If you have a Google Home, press and hold the microphone mute on the back of the speaker for about 15 seconds to reset. If successful, your device will confirm it's resetting. In the newer Nest Mini devices, first, you will have to turn ON the Mute switch.
Check to see if location services are enabled for the Home app on your device. Sometimes the Home app needs this during setup . If the speaker is on, but it still doesn’t seem to be responding, check the physical placement of the device.
Google Home not responding
As a last-ditch effort, try resetting your Nest Mini to the factory defaults. A factory reset will clear all the nascent bugs and stale files that have been piling up in your device over time. You may also want to check the output power of the outlet to which the Nest Mini is connected. Sometimes, the output power from an outlet may not be constant, leading to issues on the device. Try tofactory reset Google Hometo restore all its settings back to the way they were when you first bought it.
Verizon upgraded my router a few months ago. Until that switch, my two first generation minis worked just fine. Since that switch, the minis do not respond to voice commands.
Disable the Network Filters and Check the Wifi Band Allocation
No matter what problem you’re having, the first thing you should try is restarting it. You’ve probably heard that restarting seems to fix many computer problems, and the same advice holds true here, too. Try to move the device to a quieter room and make some commands. If the device responds normally, then the issue is with the noise in the room. However, despite its simplicity, this device is prone to errors and malfunctions. If such things happen to you, there’s no need to panic.
If the speed and latency of the network are back to normal, connect the Nest Mini to the network. If the speeds are not satisfactory, try refreshing the connection through a power cycle test. A good internet connection is vital for the optimal working of the device. If you don't have a good and running internet connection, chances are, the device will seem unresponsive.
My Nest Mini speaker only produces static
The Google Nest Mini does support a 5 GHz connection. Hence, try switching the network as a possible fix to the issue. In the 2.4 GHz network band, as the number of devices connected to the network increases, so does the latency of the network. Increased latency leads to lower speeds and higher buffering time.

Final Solution – Factory Restart
For a while, that is - after some time (it COULD be an hour but I'm not sure when I started working on it), it stopped working. If Google Home used to connect to Wi-Fi just fine but you recently changed the Wi-Fi password, you’ll need to reconfigure Google Home so you can update the password. To do that, you first need to disconnect its current settings and start fresh. If the problem persists, consider moving Google Home closer to the router. If Google Home isn't the only device experiencing connection issues, the problem may be fixed by moving the router to a more centralized location.
It also helps to check the indicator light located on the speaker; four lights means the mic is off. Turning the mic back on is done using the button on the back of the speaker. Download or access the software through a browser on your smart device. Then, check the speed and latency of the network using the software. A Power cycle test requires you to unplug the device off the power and leave it unplugged for a few seconds. If you're just over it with Google Home, there are other smart speakers out there that might suit you better.
But recently some users have discovered their units — specifically original Google Home and Google Home Mini units — have become completely unresponsive with their lights illuminated. In a perfect world, your Nest device would effortlessly connect to all your music accounts and play whatever you want with a simple command. Since we don’t live in that world, you may find that your Nest Mini runs into problems playing or finding music. I've downloaded the app onto my phone and then connected to the mini, so far so good. So, obviously, you want to only complete this step if all the others above didn't work to get Google Home on Wi-Fi. However, because of how destructive this is, it’s a likely solution to most Google Home Wi-Fi issue since it resets everything that can be reset.
